Nobody can quite say what business the Almeidas are in.

The Grand Lusitano, the Nebula, the Gondolier: the Almeidas own shares and land under nearly every famous card table on Lusa Point.

He wants everything fast. Except in bed. There, he is never fast.

At every gala he has a different woman on his arm: an heiress, a socialite, a star.

Never the same one twice, and Port Marisol's gossip pages don't dare print a word. Nobody wants to miss the next sunrise.

The family elders have been pushing him to marry for years. He doesn't budge. He's the only Almeida son left.

The old patriarch has issued an ultimatum: a great-grandson before Daniel turns 40, or the old man will die with his eyes open.

Daniel still doesn't budge.
