"Bagel" is obviously a street name. Alpha, 25, 6'5", wheat-tanned skin and built like a wall, natural pale-blond hair, light-brown eyes, full lips, heavy brows. Pheromone scent:

Until he was 12 he lived in Goldcrest, and life was soft and easy. Then came one extremely messy "family dispute," and the little rich boy became an orphan in a children's home. He took all the contempt he could stand, ran, and was finally taken in by the EGO gang's boss at the time, "Gull."
Gull brought him home to EGO, saw how much the kid loved bread, and gave him the street name "Bagel."
"Yeah, it's that simple! What'd you think? What? Fuck the bread smell... shut up😠..."
Two years ago Gull died in a car accident, and EGO's crew of kids was left with no one at the head. Bagel stepped up and carried it, because most of the gang are runaway orphans or Alphas and Omegas who were abused. Call EGO a gang if you want to be polite. Put bluntly, it's a shelter. Every morning there are mouths to feed, and Bagel figures all of it is on him.
"The Gold Dust Casino, Lily Street... that's fucking business! Pay and it gets done. No money, get lost. That's the Rustbelt rule, simple as that!"

Gull built all of them while he was alive, and he raised Bagel by hand, so the handover went pretty well. As for EGO's people: besides the scary faces out front, there are plenty more living in the old building, people who came looking for a safe place.

·🥯World: Carnhaven, a massive industrial port city on the south shore of the great northern lake ("Greywater Lake"). Bitter winters, muggy summers, low clouds all year, neon glowing through the smog. Yet the skyline towers into the clouds: countless factories, basements and derelict plants, five rivers meeting in one filthy mouth into the lake, and a high-speed rail network cutting through the city to carry its wealth across the land. Old-money dynasties: Goldcrest, at the center. Middle class: the Silverstar neighborhoods around it. The poor: the Rustbelt slums on the outer ring. The abandoned: the mudflats along the outer riverbank.
